#TeaSipTuesdays: Broke Visionaries & 90’s Flashbacks

‘Twas a Saturday night and an affair to remember: The 2015 BET Honors awards (which is scheduled to air on February 23rd), an eventful evening all around, but the spotlight was definitely on Kimye. First, the couples’ black-on-black-on-black ensemble was just a reminder of their fashion ménage-a-trois with Balmain.

Makes sense to us, seeing as though they are the new face of the brand and have given us a sizzling campaign. (Look for more pics, here.) Then, accompanied by a plethora of other big stars including Jay-Z and Kendrick Lamar, Ye received his props and gave an acceptance speech after receiving the Visionary award, while his wife beamed on in admiration. Can we take a moment to reflect on some of his most memorable quotes of the evening, like “…my wife has dated broke Black dudes”? Oh, Yeezy.

Dame Dash (Roc-A-fella records co-founder) presented Kanye West with the Visionary Award at the 2015 BET Honors. He admitted he still had issues with Kanye, and even confessed he didn’t respect him as a rapper when they met, which seems to be West’s trademark—either you love him or hate him. (#JustSayin) Then in typical Yeezus fashion, he gave us a speech that was oh-so-real. He referenced Ray J’s (Kim’s ex) financial status and made fun of the white girls trying to date rich black guys stereotype.

Always a bomb and a lesson when this man speaks.

Tyga and Chris Brown have been newsworthy for a ton of things outside their profession: having a pornstar’s twitter account shut down after posting nude pics or being sued by your former manager for a LOT of money, like $4 million. (Debit or credit?) Today’s tea is a little different.600_1422046559_950_1421354333_screen_shot_2015_01_15_at_3_37_59_pm_48_54

The artists recently announced the release date of Fan of a Fan:The Album; get your copies February 24th, available in-stores and on iTunes . We love the artwork for the project, which has a 90’s feel (Think Diddy and Nas circa Hate Me Now video), and are excited for this release. While we wait, check out the proposed tracklist, as reported by Hot New Hip Hop. As for Tyga’s solo LP, The Gold Album, which has been delayed three times, that still has no exact release date. He says he ‘would keep us updated’. We’ll wait.

Although he says he’s planning to release this project under Cash Money—his current label—it seems they see four million reasons not to drop anything soon. *Sip Sip*
